The Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC) participated in the joint workshop with the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS), and the United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI) – EOA (Electoral Assistance Office), which was about (the international observation mission for the elections of the Iraqi House of Representatives 2021
With a view to be informed about the international experiences, and the standard mechanisms used In conducting elections; IHEC starts working under the instruction of the (CEO) chief executive officer, as the Department of (development and training) starts to prepare a report on the new Jordanian House of Representatives election law 2022, in comparison with the previous one, to be distributed on the GEOs offices, to disseminate the electoral awareness.
a guide was prepared to locate the countries where elections are held, the work was on conducting researches, studies, and electoral reports on this matter, in addition to implement a workshop on (a comparative study of Iraqi / American electoral appeals) related to the Election Day project targeting IHEC staff.
These efforts have been made as a service to keeping up with progress and developing work procedures in the future benefits.
Within the framework of awareness-raising and electoral education, the Independent High Electoral Commission, through its relevant departments and managments, have carried out educational seminars in various state institutions; to urge voters to register their data biomedicallybiomedically, receive their biometric voters’ cards, as well as communicate with civil society organizations; to participate in the educational process which considered as a pillar for the electoral work, also continue the process of awareness and electoral education through media outlets and social media cimmunications.
At the technical level, IHEC continues the processes of biometric voters registration and the distribution of biometric cards, through registration centers throughout Iraq, which are conducted in the presence of (1.086) local observer, as well as (163) agent of political parties, as the number of biometric registered viters was (151.946), and the number of biometric cards distributed was (302.845) cards.

IHEC now is getting ready through its training staff, and in cooperation with the International Foundation for electoral systems (IFES); to organize a training workshop to raise the self-abilities and training skills of women’s empowerment team in the national office and all governorates’ offices, to develop their self-abilities and training skills, to be able to provide electoral support for segments of people with special needs, women, youth, and the elderly), to achieve gender balance between men and women to ensure social justice, and to empower women and raise her chances for active participation in the upcoming electoral entitlements.
In another context, IHEC continues its administratively and financially follow up through it’s concerned departments and divisions in the national office and its GEOs, to follow up issues related to election candidates, in order to award the financial insurance to the winning candidates.
As for the preventive safety committee work at IHEC, it continues its work tasks through field visits to the offices of the GEOs throughout Iraq to view the procedures followed in providing a safe and sound working environment.
The Independent High Electoral Commission continues the process of maintaining and sustaining the electoral devices and equipment through the maintenance committees formed in the offices of all electoral governorates in cooperation with the preventive safety committees and Civil Defense personnel.work is being done to test the batteries of the devices and charge them in order to provide the appropriate storage environment in accordance with the nature of these devices.
