The Security Council once again praised the work of (IHEC) the Independent High Electoral Commission, in organizing and managing the electoral process (in the 10th of October,2021 ) and successfully managing it technically and technically, to ensure its safety and security.the Security Council resolution (2631) , in the year 2022, also included the nessicity of the existence of (UNAMI) the United Nations Electoral Assistance Mission in Iraq to provide more support and advice for the future preparations for the upcoming electoral processes. this was stated at the Security Council meeting No. (9043) held on 26/5/2022.
The board of Commissioners is keening to continue to work with the same determination and methodology to guarantee the participation of all voters in the upcoming electoral processes by working on registration them biometrically ,so IHEC continues this process through registration centers that are distributed throughout Iraq to welcome the voters for registering them biometrically, and delivering their cards. (95,423) voters were registered, including (33,931) voters born in 2004, while (201,116) biometric cards were sdistributed on voters of Puplic Viting, (16,768) cards, and (167,938) cards for those of the Special Voting, and l(16,410) cards for the IDPs( displaced persons).
About ( 593) observers and (155) agents of political parties and organizations visited the registration centers. Those interested in electoral affairs, could be informed with the operational situation on the official website of the Electoral Commission (https://ihec.iq) or via the social media.
The electoral offices also publish explanatory information messages outlining the commission’s procedures for the biometric registration, also inviting previously registered voters to receive their electoral cards through a number of local media outlets in the governorates, as well as conducting field awareness workshops for newborns in schools and universities in coordination with departments in concern to urge new voters to go and check.
As to the instruction of the CEO, the GOVERNORATE ELECTORAL Offices should secure their warehouses and maintain the safety of electronic devices in them, as the commission is working to develop practical procedures for testing the electoral electronic devices by a number of specialized technical staff. This was desided after holding an online meeting in the presence of the technical and administrative general managers, in which the continuation of work in this file was emphasized throughout the week.
