IHEC continues welcoming the voters to conduct the biometric registration process for any of the cases of: (Correction, addition, deletion of the ) in (1079) registration centers, in addition to run (998) mobile teams in schools, institutions, schools and citizens’homes, as well as targeting members of the security staff and camps of displaced persons for the purpose of conducting the registration process and distributing their voting cards . The commission registered (81,521) voters and distributed ( 162,210) biometric cards.
In the context of the above-mentioned efforts, the media and Mass Communication divisions continue to broadcast media messages through various media and official social media networks to urge voters to review and register or receive the electoral card.
In accordance with the instructions of the chief executive officer to the managers of the GEOs and those of the security divisions in these offices , the need to communicate with the security authorities and the Civil Defense directorates to provide security protection and preventive safety of the offices and warehouses, including electronic devices, batteries and other electoral materials, and emphasize on security coordination to fortify the sub-centers and secure the work of biometric mobile registration teams.
The head of the polling staff’s committee, is following up on the completion of the work in the offices of the governorates of the Kurdistan region, which has begun to coordinate with banks for the purpose of distributing the dues of the polling staff on the day of the vote.
On the other hand, IHEC has released the security deposits of the winning candidates in the elections of the Iraqi Council of Representatives for 2021. While the units of (parties and candidates affairs, continued to follow up the file of collecting the amounts of fines from violated candidates whovhad violated the regulations of the election campaigns, this was done, in coordination with the legal divisions, and field follow-up through the monitoring committee, which conducts field visits and surveys of political parties ‘ headquarters.
On the other hand, the electoral offices continue their communication through the media and Mass Communication Divisions, with government institutions and local organizations to participate in seminars, conferences and festivals for the purpose of spreading electoral awareness and urging people to go to the registration centers for the purpose of updating their biometric registration.
In a related context,IHEC continues its work as the Head of the women’s Empowerment Committee and the gender team Committee, is holding several consultative meetings with supporting sides, represented by advisors and specialists in the Electoral Assistance Office and the gender unit in the United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI), representatives of the International Foundation for electoral systems (IFES ) and the country director of the Iraqi Institute, to discuss the team’s work plan for the second half of 2022 aimed at strengthening gender perspective and achieving full participation in electoral processes.
In the context of training, IHEC , in coordination with the United Nations Electoral Assistance Team, is carrying out a training workshop for staff of the coordination and Field Support Division and the voter registration, and Information Technology Divisions in the Governorate electoral offices, the foundation has also implemented a two-round workshop (cybersecurity) for staff of the national office and registration centres.
