In a private meeting, the chairman of the board of Commissioners, Judge (Jalil Adnan Khalaf) met the Head of the EU mission who handed his excellencey the final report on the observation of the 2021 parliamentary elections, which mentioned several notes about the elections, such as praising the technical efficiency and work of the Electoral Commission in general. The overall performance of the Commission at the national and governorate levels was assessed positively in the context of the timely implementation of operational plans, the integrity of the electronic sorting and counting system and the organization and transparency of the polling process attended by international and local observers and political party agents, while noting some of the obstacles facing the work of the Commission; As a result, the Chairman of the Board of Commissioners instructed that technical, operational, financial, administrative and public information committees should be established to examine all aspects of the report in order to identify any shortcomings with a view to elicit lessons learned to outrun them in future electoral processes.
The International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES) continues to organize workshops for Commission staff in the presence of several members of the Board of Commissioners and the chief of the Electoral office; To diagnose challenges and problems encountered in the work of the Commission during the electoral process and after the announcement of the results of the elections, to develop successful solutions to avoid them in the future.
In relation to the interest of the Chairman and members of the Board of Commissioners in the media system, it was currently prepared to coordinate work with State institutions within the specialty, to develop information skills and exchange experiences.
In a related context, IHEC will coordinate with the United Nations Electoral Assistance Team for Iraq (UNAMI) studying the media awareness campaigns through field teams who will arrange visits to the GEOs to see media plans that have been implemented in the previous electoral process to evaluate and study them to provide the recommendations that ensure the best ways to guarantee the best methods of reaching the voters to achieve wide ratia of democratic participation in the future electoral process.
The Directorate of political Parties and Organizations affairs and its related units in GEOs offices , continues to follow up, evaluation and monitor the activities of 267 political party registered in it, through field visits to these registered parties, to ensure their commitment to conditions, rules, and to the BoC instructions, also to avoid violating terms of the parties Act No. 36 of 2015.
