Weekly Statement

The chairman and the (BoC) members at the H.Q of IHEC; hold their meeting on Monday, the 13th February 2023 in which they discussed the ways and methods that are liable to support the work of IHEC in all its formations to guarantee the voter’s right in the constitution.
In a related context, the chief executive officer (CEO) of IHEC, followed up on the technical work of the operations and Information Technology Department; besides his media follow-up over work on (the media and Mass Communication) Department and its divisions and their commitment to the decisions issued by the Board of Commissioners to achieve sustainable development of electoral duties.
In the light of forming committees under a ministerial order by the chairman of IHEC which are composed of members of the board of Commissioners, the CEO, Directors-generals DGs, and managers of departments concerned with the supervising, administrative and financial aspects, the tasks of the committees are making field visits to the GEOs and their formations, as a member of the board of Commissioners, judge Ali Rashid, and the CEO’s assistant for administrative and Financial Affairs, visited Al_Najaf electoral office, number of registration centres, and warehouses belonging to the office; to be informed directly with the technical, operational and administrative activities, to identify obstacles that may face the work; and to check out the registration ratio, biometric update and the streamlined movement of mobile teams during their fieldwork of updating voter’s data.
Regarding the activity of the Department of (parties and political organizations affairs), it follows upon the political parties that had been registered in it. as the divisions of (parties affairs and candidates) in all IHEC’S formations have registered (265) political parties.
The specialized team of evaluating parties follows -up, and monitors visit their headquarters, to check out their records, documents and papers that must be available at each party headquarter, as well as supervise the periodic general conferences organized by parties per the instructions for the implementation of the law on parties and political organizations No. (36), 2015.

Concerning the BoC’s interest in preventive safety, IHEC continues its coordination by the Civil Defence and Occupational Safety divisions, with the security authorities and the Civil Defence Directorate; to follow up and inspect fire extinguishing systems periodically, as well as the formation of self-rescue teams (Rescue, Fire, evacuation) in the offices of the electoral governorates, and conduct night field visits on public holidays. They also participated in the fourth International Conference on (Geographic Information Systems and smart Cities ) to benefit from them in securing the institution and developing the skills of its specialized employees.
In terms of biometric registration, the electoral governorate offices (GEOs) continue to coordinate work with the support agencies of IHEC in deploying mobile teams to register voters biometrically, including those born in 2005, while the national office and the electoral governorate offices are continuing in implementation of media plans by publishing media messages in various media outlets to clarify procedures of the Commission in this regard and invited the previously registered voters to receive their electoral cards through a number of social media and various local media outlets in the governorates, as this resulted in the registration of (582,983) voters, while the registration centers distributed (815,691) biometric cards. And (224,240) cards classified for public voting, and (542,831) cards for private voting for security members and armed forces. The cards distributed for the IDPs , were (48,620) cards in the presence of several local observers and agents of political parties.

IHEC is interested in the women’s empowerment project. It adopts it as one of its strategic goals. Hence the trainers of the empowerment team in the national office and the GEOs (governorate offices); are conducting a periodic educational program which includes the implementation of scheduled training workshops in state institutions and departments dealing with women’s leadership skills and the importance of participation in the democratic process, as well as educating them with the importance of biometric registration, with the company of mobile teams to seize the opportunity to register the employees of these institutions.
