IHEC (The Independent High Electoral Commission) has allocated a toll-free telephone number (5667) to be a direct line between the commission and voters wishing to inquire about everything related to the biometric registration process and the distribution of the biometric card, and raising problems and obstacles that they may face in the two processes in order to overcome them.
On a related matter , under the supervision and follow-up of the board of commissioners at IHEC’S HQ, and through field follow-up committees, the registration centers of all electoral offices continue welcoming voters to start biometric registration process of previously unregistered voters, including those born in (2004), as the commission registered (257,881) voters, and continues to distribute biometric voters’ cards through the sub-centers in districts and venues of the governorates, also running of mobile teams, (52,830) voter’s cards were distributed related to the general voting , and (349,506) cards distributed for the private voting, while the IDPs, and displaced persons’ cards were (34,915) cards. The two operations were carried out in the presence of (1231) local observers, and(172) agents of a political parties. Towards the electoral education and awareness , the Independent High Electoral Commission, through its competent directorates and departments in the national office and provincial electoral offices ؛has carried out educational seminars in various state institutions to urge voters to register their biometric data and receive their biometric voter card, as well as the publication of media messages through local media outlets in the provinces, as well as other media platforms to clarify its procedures regarding biometric registration and invite previously registered voters to receive their electoral card.
through its team of women’s political empowerment which is deployed in all governorates’ electoral offices, and in cooperation with local civil society organizations ; IHEC started working to hold a number of training and development workshops in the electoral field and women’s political and electoral empowerment to achieve gender balance that guarantees social justice between men and women to improve their existence and active participation in the upcoming electoral entitlements.
On the other hand, the Independent High Electoral Commission continues to follow up and monitor the headquarters of political parties through the Directorate of (political parties and organizations’ Affairs), through the divisions of parties and candidates’ affairs of all GEOs. Their committee’s job is monitoring and field survey, which they conduct field visits to the headquarters of political parties and audit the mechanism of opening and closing headquarters, according to regulations and instructions in this regard.
IHEC continues working on the return of the financial insurance amounts of the original and substitute winning candidates in accordance with the decision of acceptance which has been issued by the Board of Commissioners in this regard.
Candidates ‘ affairs department in the national office is also working to follow up on what is received from the Supreme National Commission for accountability and Justice regarding candidates and all electoral processeses since 2005.
On another issue , IHEC is continuing through its departments and divisions specialists in security coordination process to immunize the headquarters of warehouses and sub-centers spread throughout Iraq, in addition to keep on coordinating between the preventive safety committees and the Directorate of Civil Defense to inspect fire systems periodically to ensure the preventive aspects to ensure the safety of office and storage equipment and all facilities of the electoral institutions.
