Sstatement
The Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC) calls on media outlets and journalists to be cautious and precise and avoid posting videos that are irrelevant to this election, especially when someone checks them out, will find that they contain procedures and ballot papers related to previous elections.
The attempt of publishing the previous videos and linking them to the current elections, which started yesterday Friday, will not undermine the high concern of the staff of IHEC who keen to conduct the general voting which will take place tomorrow Sunday, at a supreme level worthy of the unprecedented efforts and preparations made by the institution.
IHEC reserves its legal right in responding to the insistence of some websites to mislead public opinion and publishing videos for the promotion to such videos, aiming to influencing the convictions of voters, especially when we are in critical and sensitive hours proceeding the start of the Iraqis voting in the CoR council of representatives’ October 10th elections.
