Weekly Statement
The fruitful results from the meetings of the board of Commissioners and the decisions issued by the chairman and members of the board; Led to organizing the institutional work environment in line with the standards of quality and sustainable development, as the book periodically follows up the implementation of these decisions to ensure the correct path to implement the phased and strategic plans, hence the chairmen of the board of Commissioners and the chief executive officer (CEO) met with the Directors Generals of the GEOs in the presence of the Secretary General of the BoC; And both of CEO’s assistants, technical and administrative, to pursue the progress of work in the past days and how fluent was the implementation of the biometric project under the ratified regulations and instructions. The chairman of the (BoC) stressed the importance of abided by the implementation of occupational safety instructions to preserve security and safety.
As part of the ongoing communication by the board of Commissioners to follow up on the workflow in the registration centres, the chairman of the board of Commissioners met online with the director and staff of the registration center in the second constituency in Nineveh Governorate, in the presence of the Secretary General of the board of Commissioners and administrative and financial assistant of the CEO; to pursue their achievements in that will lead to the success of both projects, voter biometric registration, and the biometric cards distribution, also to invite short-term cardholders to update their biometric data to ensure their right in the future elections.
As part of the follow-up, the members of the board of commissioners continue their inspection tours to the governorates’ electoral offices and their facilities, where the one of members of the BoC, judge Daham Akram Omar, accompanied by the Technical Assistant of the CEO and some employees, visited the SalahulDin Electoral Office, its registration centers and warehouses, to review the progress of work administratively and technically, follow up on the challenges that may face the work, and the fluency of the workflow in the biometric registration project and the distribution of the voter card.
Under the guidance of the chairman of the board of Commissioners, the committee of (electoral devices’ management), formed under the chairmanship of the deputy head of the CEO, for technical affairs, and membership of some employees, continues to carry out its tasks under the Electronic Program prepared for the administration of electoral devices through field visits to the offices of electoral governors, as well as training technical staff working on the testing of all electoral devices. The operations and Information Technology Department also continues to hold its periodic meetings under the guidance of the CEO, to follow up on the plan set to supervise the work of the governorate offices, their branch centers, logistics and biometric warehouses.
On the other hand, for succeeded in the biometric registration project through the participation of all categories of voters, in the biometric registration and updating processes, the trainers in IHEC continue their awareness campaigns by conducting training workshops and educational seminars in state institutions, in addition to the continuation media campaigns which had been implemented by the GEOs, in coordination with the Department of Information and Mass Communication; To preserve the constitutional rights of voters.
As the efforts of the registration staff resulted in updating the data of (580 . 624) voters, including those born in 2005, while the IHEC has distributed (881.039) biometric cards classified for general voting (268.516) cards, and (751.562) cards for private voting. While distributing (49.772) biometric cards for IDPs. The two processes took place in the presence of approximately (2000) local observers, and (400) political party agents.

To pay attention to the category of young people, especially those born in 2005 who will be of legal age at the beginning of this year and are qualified to participate in the electoral process, the efforts of IHEC through the offices of the GEOs are focused on coordinating with non-governmental organizations and associations concerned with youth, in addition to municipal councils and mukhtars, to visit youth gatherings in the districts of the governors and their areas; To make them aware of the importance of participating in the registration and receiving biometric cards to preserve their rights to participate in the upcoming electoral processes.
Within the framework of raising students ‘ awareness in line with the commission’s objectives to create a generation who believes that the peaceful circulation of power takes place through the ballot boxes; the GEOs continue implementing their programs related to the field practice of elections among students at the preparatory grade in coordination with the Ministry of education and its directorates. These programs are accompanied by educational seminars to introduce the importance of biometric registration and mobile teams to register students who have reached the legal age to be qualified to cast their votes.
Concerning voters with disabilities, IHEC, in coordination with the concerned authorities, is interested to preserve their rights considering them an important segment of voters, also working to secure their electoral rights by organizing educational seminars on the importance of their participation in the electoral process, as well as conducting mobile teams to register them diametrically.
