Statement
The Independent High Electoral Commission continues its work on Saturday, the 23rd October, to respond to the appeals by the specialized department, accordingly, (340) appeals were studied by the Board of Commissioners(BoC)today, Saturday, and after completing the necessary investigative procedures based on the evidences and the submitted recommendations; the BoC recommended to reject (322) appeals for ite lacks evidences or violates the provisions of Article (38/First) of the Iraqi Parliament Elections Law in force, as the appellant did not specify the stations or centers he is appealing against their results, besides he asked to open all stations of the constituency or proving that the announced results are matched. These appeals will be sent with a recommendations to the Electoral Judicial Panel to decide on the appeals in accordance with the law.
In the same context, the (BoC) decided to approve the manual re-sorting and re-counting of (234) contested station based on 18 appeals distributed over the following governorates:- Salah al-Din and Basra, in addition to Baghdad, as it was supported by evidences. The BoC will submit the appropriate recommendation in this regard after completing the procedures of Manual counting, as the sorting and counting of votes will be done manually in the presence of representatives of the competing candidates at these stations according to dates, procedures and mechanisms to be determined later and notified before an appropriate period.
IHEC will continue considering the rest of the appeals successively, as it will daily report the situation of the appeals by periodic statements according to what is being considered daily until all appeals will be completed.
